Daily Actual Evapotranspiration Estimation in a Mediterranean Ecosystem from Landsat Observations Using SEBAL Approach

چکیده

Quantifying actual evapotranspiration (ETa) over natural vegetation is crucial in evaluating the water status of ecosystems and water-use patterns local or regional hydrological basins. Remote sensing-based surface energy balance models have been used extensively for estimating ETa agro-environments; however, application these to still limited. The algorithm land (SEBAL) physical-based model was applied estimate a heterogeneous coverage Mediterranean maquis reserve Sardinia, Italy. on 19 Landsat 5 8 images from 2009 2014, results were compared data micrometeorological station with eddy covariance flux measurements. Comparing SEBAL-based evaporative fraction (ΛS) corresponding tower-derived fractions (ΛT) showed good estimations overpass time (Coefficient determination R2 = 0.77, root mean square error RMSE 0.05 absolute MAE 0.076). Three methods evaluated upscaling instantaneous latent heat (λE) daily (ETa,D). use (Λ), reference (EFr) ratio incoming shortwave radiation (Rs24/Rsi) as factors under hypothesis diurnal self-preservation. A preliminary analysis performed using only in-situ measured demonstrated that three relatively self-preserved during daytime, can yield ETa,D estimations, particularly when obtained at near scene acquisition (≈10:00 UTC). SEBAL retrieved fluxes, some ancillary meteorological upscale SEBAL-estimated λ ET. Λ EFr Rs24/Rsi average overestimated by nearly 20, 61 18%, respectively. performance considered satisfactory, bearing mind high variable ground cover inherent variability biome composition, which cannot be properly represented moderate spatial resolution. In this study, we tested potential complex ecosystem. This modeling approach will represent dynamics ET, integrated into further environmental applications.

estimation of crop actual evapotranspiration using sebal algorithm (case study: khoramdareh region at zanjan province)

accurate estimation of crop evapotranspiration (etc) plays an important role in improving the water useefficiency (wue) and water management. due to the presence of different types of coatings plant in large areas, the accurate calculation of the water requirements by conventional methods is elusive or impossible. remote sensing methods are becoming attractive to estimate crop evapotranspiratio...

Evapotranspiration Estimate over an Almond Orchard Using Landsat Satellite Observations

California growers face challenges with water shortages and there is a strong need to use the least amount of water while optimizing yield. Timely information on evapotranspiration (ET), a dominant component of crop consumptive water use, is critical for growers to tailor irrigation management based on in-field spatial variability and in-season variations. We evaluated the performance of a remo...

Measurement and estimation of actual evapotranspiration in the field under Mediterranean climate: a review

The Mediterranean regions are submitted to a large variety of climates. In general, the environments are arid and semi-arid with summers characterised by high temperatures and small precipitation. Due to the scarcity of water resources, the correct evaluation of water losses by the crops as evapotranspiration (ET) is very important in these regions. In this paper, we initially present the most ...

Modifying SEBAL Model Based on the Trapezoidal Relationship between Land Surface Temperature and Vegetation Index for Actual Evapotranspiration Estimation

The Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL) is widely used to estimate actual evapotranspiration (ETa). One major limitation of the SEBAL model is the subjectiveness in selecting extreme cold/hot pixels. In the present study, the SEBAL model is modified by determining the extreme cold/hot status, based on the theoretical trapezoidal relationship between land surface temperature (Ts) a...

Estimation of Actual Evapotranspiration using Remote Sensing data

Estimation of actual evapotranspiration (AET) and its spatial distribution are important to understanding of catchment hydrology. The AET is driven by net energy available to evaporate water from soil and vegetation surfaces, and to transpirate water from vegetation. However, estimating AET is difficult as the evapotranspiration process involves complex physical and biological processes. It is ...
